Obama to lift HIV and AIDS Travel Ban

The travel ban to the USA is being lifted.

And not before time. How many other nations ban folk who are HIV+ from entering their borders? This has been true discrimination against folk who are ill, almost alwasy through no fault of their own.

I thought that the UK also limited HIV+ immigration and inbound travel, so I did some research.  I was wrong.

Welcome back to part of the global community, USA.

While there has been significant criticism of this President from members of the opposition, indeed within his own party, as well as certain elements of the media-this fact remains constant: The President is not only fulfilling promises made during his campaign, he is also adhering to the principles and policies that he holds dear.
Granted, its only been roughly 10 months since he took office, it is early in other words. President Obama has still affected more changes in that short time span than any of the last 11 men who have held the office before him.
This is not an empty political gesture rather it is in keeping with his personal philosophy.
I join Tim in welcoming this change by President Obama administration in pushing the United States further into the greater world community.
